LEITNER is continuing to expand its production capacities in Europe. End of June, after eleven months of construction, the new plant in Stará Ľubovňa, Slovakia, was opened in the presence of the Minister of Economics Richard Sulík. In total, the subsidiary Leitech s.r.o. invested five million euros in further development of the site, where employee numbers have increased from 27 to around 80 since it started operating in 2011, when LEITNER began its activities in the north-east of the country.
The production site in Slovakia looks back on a rapid success story. In 2011, production activities began in a rented hall. Previously, LEITNER had already purchased a 21,000 m² plot of land adjacent to it. In 2020, the new plant was built on that reality. Since the start of production activities, a total of 11 million euros have been invested in Stará Ľubovňa. Almost half of this amount has been invested in the latest expansion, which has made 4,200 m² of hall space and 920 m² of office space available. In the past years, the number of employees has increased from 27 to almost 80. LEITNER is continuously investing in employee training at the site - the welders are all certified.
One of the decisive factors for the positive development of the plant in north-eastern Slovakia is the consistently high quality of steel construction, which led to the location developing into a central production site for the group. Much has also been invested here in the field of welding technology in order to meet the high international requirements. Steel construction components such as ropeway towers and welding technology components are manufactured in Stará Ľubovňa.
At the opening of the plant, Anton Seeber, president of LEITNER, emphasises the importance of it in Slovakia: "This new location plays an important role in our global production strategy because we have found specialised and hard-working employees in Stará Ľubovňa. In addition, we can be closer to a market that offers a lot of potential for our group of companies. This enables us to respond better and faster to customer inquiries".
