Technology that inspires: the first test run at Rosskopf
The Rosskopf skiing area in Sterzing, a long-standing partner of LEITNER, is once again the scene of a pioneering world first. The 10-seater “Rosskopfbahn”, originally opened in 2022, will be the first gondola lift in the world to be equipped with the new LeitPilot® technology. This smart system enables automated station operation, which will make a significant contribution to boosting efficiency and saving resources.

The system is currently being tested at the Rosskopf in parallel with manual monitoring. After a successful test phase, the plan is to implement fully autonomous operation.
A glimpse into the future: autonomous operation and maximum safety
LeitPilot® revolutionises ropeway operation through real-time monitoring with LIDAR sensors and camera systems. Supplemented by state-of-the-art safety devices such as safety doors and emergency stop switches, our system ensures maximum protection and comfort while the optimised cabin guide guarantees smooth entering and exiting of the cabins.
Flexibility for new and existing systems
LeitPilot® is a future-proof solution not just for new, but also for existing ropeway systems. It offers flexible adaptation options for different station configurations, such as HCL (high-capacity loading) stations. As such, the system optimises staff deployment while ensuring maximum safety.
