No other peak has the fascination that this majestic glacier area exudes all year round. It is therefore no surprise that the top of the Marmolada, the highest mountain in the Dolomites, is the absolute highlight within the 1220 km of slopes of the famous Sella Ronda. From the summit, one of the longest pistes in the alpine region leads down to Malga Ciapela, where the bottom station of the Marmolada ropeway is situated at 1482 meters. The re-construction of the aerial tramway was a challenge for the LEITNER technicians from both an environmental and planning point of view. A logistical challenge was posed by the fact that the various construction sites were only accessible by aerial ropeway or helicopter, which meant that the maximum weight and dimensions of the system components had to be kept as low as possible.
