The renovation of the Dantercepies ropeway, which connects Selva di Val Gardena with the Gardena Pass, represents a significant innovation and major increase in quality for Val Gardena. Despite a mudslide in May 2013 that resulted in changes to the plans and a new route, the ropeway was successfully completed for the beginning of the 2013 winter season. As one of the most popular and heavily used ropeways in the region, it is a prestige project not just for the valley, but also for LEITNER ropeways. The installation consists of two separate 10-passenger Danter and Cepies gondola ropeways which are linked via a midway station. They transport guests over two sections to the Gardena Pass and, with their cushioned benches, offer comfort along with stunning views through their panorama windows. The valley station has been extended for more comfortable boarding and the speed during boarding has been reduced to 0.22 meters per second. The unique architecture and design of the two stations allow them to blend discreetly and harmoniously into the landscape. The multi-functional ropeway fulfills the highest requirements for both winter sports fans and summer guests: Primarily used by skiers and snowboarders during the winter, it also permits the transport of bicycles and strollers during the summer.
“The key reason why LEITNER’s tender was accepted was that they were able to offer solutions that ideally met the stringent architectural demands.”
