It brings visitors to high alpine reservoirs and power plants above Kaprun and, thanks to its unusual dimensions, is in itself a point of interest. The “Lärchwandschrägaufzug” funicular ropeway has undergone a general overhaul by LEITNER ropeways, more than 60 years after its inaugural run. This involved the replacement of the majority of the technical ropeway and electrical equipment and a thorough reorientation towards tourism use. The new car, with generous dimensions of 9 by 5.4 meters, is without roofing just like the previous model. Special awnings provide sun protection as required. There is room for a total of 185 passengers and one attendant who can separately enter and exit via telescopic sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle. Drive is provided from the top station through two electronically synchronized winches. The hauling rope is guided by two rope sheaves on the vehicle. Between the valley station at 1,209 meters and the top station at 1,640 meters, the route reaches a maximum incline of 39 degrees.
