IF440 U-Bahn Serfaus

In Tyrol’s top tourist destination Serfaus, the historic ‘U-Bahn’ has been running again since July 2019 with a new look. Having run for over 30 years, it was time to modernize the ropeway technology, and LEITNER ropeways was the company chosen to do just that. The funicular was equipped with LEITNER DirectDrive and a new three-carriage train delivered by SIGMA. The air cushion funiculars takes passengers along the 1,280 meter subterranean route connecting all key locations in the village, stopping at four stations: ‘Parkplatz’ (Car Park), ‘Kirche’ (Church), ‘Zentrum’ (Center) and ‘Seilbahn’ (Ropeway). The ropeway keeps Serfaus clear of traffic, and with this prescient mobility solution, the village has been at the forefront of innovation for three decades.
