Aerial tramways are particularly well-suited in extreme terrain since the towers can be erected at larger intervals. In this system, one or two cabins shuttle back-and-forth between the stations, pulled by a haul rope and are sup­ported by one or two support cables. Alternatively, they can be moved on a single combined carrying-hauling cable.
